Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo: Photos

Mid-City celebrated the summer this past weekend with the sixth annual Bayou Boogaloo festival along Bayou St. John. Highlights included Grupo Fantasma, the first out-of-town band to play the Boogaloo; Delfeayo Marsalis’ Sweet Thunder, who performed Marsalis’ arrangements of Duke Ellington’s Shakespeare-inspired Such Sweet Thunder suite; and Khris Royal and Dark Matter coming into their own with a closing Sunday evening slot. All photos were taken by Kim Welsh, who can be seen below in front of her artist vendor booth at the festival.
