This website is new to me–as it is to you–and lemme tell you, it’s been a long hard road. We decided to change our website about a year-and-a-half ago, and it’s taken this long to get it up.
This is just the beginning though. We realize that we are not just in the “word” and “print” business anymore. We’re now in the news business, and audio and video as well. Since OffBeat.com was initialized in 1996 (we were the first magazine website to go online in Louisiana), wow, has the web changed, and it continues to change and grow at lightning speed. I actually enjoy the challenge because it’s relatively new territory for us. We’ve contacted a lot of young locals who we want involved in this website. OffBeat may be 22 years old–over a generation–but we’re still interested in providing our readers with up-to-date, fresh information on our creative community. My spirit may be willing, but god knows, the flesh has seen better days. So all you twenty- or thirty-somethings who think you can teach us a thing or two: we’re ready. Come show us your stuff.
