Today Treme is shooting down Frenchmen Street from us. I walked down with a video camera, but there was nothing to shoot but a lot of cold people with headsets. A lot of people have pinned high hopes on David Simon’s Treme, first as a chance that someone night actually capture the New Orleans experience on screen, and because it generates jobs. But on a cold day in a national economic climate that discourages tourism, it’s clear that Treme could also become the sort of weekly ad for the city that New Orleans could really use.
