Congratulations to Joseph “Zigaboo” Modeliste and The Meters on their recent achievement of the 2014 BMI award for Billboard #1 Hot Rap Songs, for the track “Berzerk” in collaboration with the Grammy Award winning rapper Eminem.

The track is laced with various samples of Zigaboo’s contributions to popular music throughout the years.

Not only is Modeliste an accomplished legend of New Orleans Funk, but his legendary drum riffs have been repeatedly sampled by some of hip hop’s most dynamic artists, including Public Enemy, The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and more.

For decades, Ziggy has taken the stage with local stars like Dr. John and Allen Toussaint, as well as national acts like Paul McCartney, Erykah Badu, and a list of artist that could put many to shame.
