One of the godfathers of the recent pop-up restaurant phenomenon, Pizza Delicious is getting ready to pop up to the big leagues and open a permanent, storefront location at 617 Piety St. in the Bywater with amenities like seating, renovation, and all of the restaurant taxes that accompany such glory. So in the same DIY spirit that brought them to this point, they’re hosting “Pizzanity!”—a fundraiser at Siberia tonight to help defray the costs.
The fundraiser, of course, features pizza and music. The lineup consists of friends and fans of Pizza D: Jeff Treffinger (The Geraniums), Bunny & The Playboys (Bunny Matthews), Tin Types, Meschiya Lake, Tuba Skinny, Happy Talk, DJ Q, and Sam Doores and Alynda Lee (of Hurray for the Riff Raff) with assorted friends. The fundraiser starts at 8 p.m. Admission is $10, but extra donations are of course welcome.
Here’s video of Sam Doores and his own band The Tumbleweeds playing a beautifully arranged version of “Wrong Time to Be Right”, an obscure country song by Cast King. Doores and the Tumbleweeds will be at Jazz Fest Saturday, May 5 at 12:35 p.m. on the Lagniappe Stage.
