Tonight, the monthly electro party Electronic Takeover is screening the film Rubber at the Prytania Theatre. The artsploitation slasher movie was directed by French electro producer Quentin Dupieux, better known to music fans as Ed Banger Records’ Mr. Oizo. Besides writing and shooting the flick, Dupieux also composed the score along with Gaspard Augé, who makes up one half of the popular electro duo Justice.
The basic plot is about a car tire named Robert that kills people by making their heads explode (yes.), but it also has deeper layers of self-referential themes about the medium of film. Electronic Takeover DJs will play sets before the film starts. Doors are at 11:30, tickets are $9 or $8 for students and BYOB is encouraged.
