YouTube du Jour: Lil’ Rascals Brass Band

Ah YouTube—it’s great to see this promo video preserved for posterity. Trombonist Corey Henry circa March 2001 talks about the Lil’ Rascals’ then-upcoming, now-classic album Buck It Like A Horse. The album’s first track, the Glen David Andrews-penned “Knock With Me, Rock With Me” (read this excellent essay on the song) became a second-line staple, and one of the most beloved brass band songs of the 2000s. This video was filmed during the album’s recording in Tipitina’s’ 8th Floor Studios, and features Rebirth’s Vincent Broussard and Galactic’s Ben Ellman playing with Henry on the front horn line during the recording of “Keep the Dream Alive.”
