Last Friday, the rumor of the night was that Robert Plant might appear at the Parish with Lil’ Band o’ Gold as he did at Tipitina’s in 2007. It didn’t happen—Plant showed up at Preservation Hall instead, where current bandmates Buddy Miller and Patty Griffin were playing with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band—but here they are together performing Fats Domino’s “I’ve Been Around.” The Lafayette swamp pop supergroup doesn’t need guest stars, though. They create a big, classic R&B sound with Louisiana roots and have impeccable taste in covers. They’ll be at Tipitina’s Uptown tonight.
