Sometimes great music just falls into your lap, and this is one of those cases. Yesterday, a last-minute announcement was made that Fitz and the Tantrums would be playing a free show tonight at the Howlin’ Wolf. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8.
Fitz and the Tantrums burst into the public consciousness from their first show at Hollywood’s Hotel Cafe in 2008, dishing up a fresh sound with some old-school get-down, handclapping style. Since the release of their 5 song EP Songs For A Breakup, Vol. 1, Fitz and the band have shared the stage with like-minded bands from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings to Maroon 5. Their most recent record, Pickin’ Up the Pieces, came out in 2010. Here’s one of their early music videos, for 2009’s “Winds of Change” and a bonus set of videos below—the band joining Daryl Hall (of Hall & Oates fame) for his web series Live from Daryl’s House.
Again—Fitz and the Tantrums play tonight at the Howlin’ Wolf, with doors at 7 p.m. The show is free.
