Tonight, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art will screen the movie Echotone at 8 p.m. The documentary deals with issues that are relevant here as it examines how economic growth in Austin, Texas affect the city’s music community. What happens to musicians when property values are made a civic priority over the art that gave the property its value in the first place? How can art and commerce co-exist?
Filmmaker Nathan Crist will be at the screening, as will Austin musician Bill Baird, a multi-instrumentalist psychedelic folk artist. Baird will play the Ogden’s “Ogden After Hours” series tonight starting at 6 p.m.
Both shows are free to Ogden members. Non-members can buy admission to one event or the other, or there’s combo price of $15. For details and to reserve a seat for the film, go to OgdenMuseum.org.
