According to “Be the One”, the star-studded video commissioned by New Orleans’ Women of the Storm, if you are affected by the Gulf Oil Spill, or just plain really like sea turtles and sand castles, your voice can be heard. Over a pensive score written by Jay Weigel (director of the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans) and played by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrities such as Drew Brees, Dave Matthews, Sandra Bullock urge you to “be the one” for Gulf restoration by signing a petition at restorethegulf.com. The petition requests more money from Washington, which would be spent on restoring the fragile Gulf ecosystems.

Organizers hope that the video, posted on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and NOLA.com, will spread by word of mouth and go viral, thanks to the A-listers featured in it. The plan is that the group will travel to Washington in the fall to hand-deliver the petition and attract further national attention to the crisis.
