Wynton Marsalis, son of legendary New Orleans jazzman Ellis Marsalis and brother to fellow musicians Branford Marsalis and Delfeayo Marsalis, famously locked horns with Miles Davis in his “Young Lions” days, and has gone on to be considered the most outstanding jazz musicians and trumpeters of his generation.
Tipitina’s Foundation supports Louisiana and New Orleans’ irreplaceable music community and preserves the state’s unique musical cultures. The Foundation promotes childhood music education, the professional development of adult musicians, and the increased viability of Louisiana music as a cultural, educational, and economic resource.
