The 2014 WWOZ Piano Night fundraiser will feature five hours of uninterrupted musical performances by Ellis Marsalis and other musical greats. This year’s event, which will take place on Monday, April 28, will feature some of the city’s top piano players on three separate stages at the House of Blues on Decatur Street.
The 26th Annual Piano Night also includes food provided by 12 of New Orleans’ favorite restaurants, and WWOZ will also host a live broadcast of the event.
“WWOZ is incredibly proud to honor New Orleans’ music tradition throughout the years with our Piano Night fundraiser,” WWOZ Program Director Dwayne Breashears said in a press release. “This year’s amazing talent—including Ellis Marsalis, among many others—has helped build upon the foundation that has shaped not only our radio station, but our city. We’re honored to work with an incredibly passionate team to produce the best off-site Jazz Fest-related event in New Orleans!”
Piano Night offers music enthusiasts several ways to enjoy the five hours of uninterrupted music for unique listening experiences, including Club 88 with exclusive performances in the intimate Foundation Room; Piano Heaven, featuring a catered patron party and seating for 150 in the Parish; and performances from The Main Stage, the largest and most energetic venue.
Piano Night performers include Ellis Marsalis, Jon Cleary, John Gros, Nigel Hall, David Todd Paquette, Terrance Simien Trio featuring Danny Williams, and Yoshitaka “Z2″ Tsuji.
