Some of the city’s most popular performers will kick off Jazz Fest 2018 with a late-night performance at Tipitina’s on Friday, April 27. Tank and the Bangas, who just released their major-label debut single in “Smoke.Netflix.Chill,” are gearing up for a new album on Verve. Joining them at Tip’s is another New Orleans favorite, also on the verge of releasing a label debut. Queen Diva Big Freedia is expected to release her album on June 1. The Soul Rebels are arguably one of the most in-demand brass bands in the world, themselves busy at work on an album slated for release in 2019.
