WIN TICKETS: Anders Osborne’s
“Rock My NOLA Soul”
Christmas Spectacular

For the second year in the row, New Orleans guitar hero Anders Osborne invites some friends — and you — over to Tipitina’s to “rock his NOLA soul” for a roots rock spectacular in the bayou holiday spirit. In fact, last year was such a blast that he’s hosting two nights of his “Rock My NOLA Soul” Christmas Spectacular on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7.

Anders Osborne hosts Christmas Roots Rock Spectacular at Tips on December 6-7.

Still hot on the heels of the October release of his latest album, Peace (Alligator Records), Osborne has been steady touring and making guest appearances on a myriad of Internet, radio and television shows, but will spend the winter holidays at home in New Orleans. His roots rock mini-fest at Tipitina’s the first weekend in December will feature an all-star line-up of Louisiana favorites from rock and blues to funk, Mardi Gras Indian music and even a little soul.

Guests at this year’s spectacular include John Gros of Papa Grows Funk, Billy Iuso of the Restless Natives, harmonica maverick Johnny Sansone, Paul Barrere of Little Feat and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux of the Golden Eagles and Wild Magnolias. Funk and roots rock legend Cyril Neville has also been added to the line-up as a very special guest, and if you missed last Saturday’s North Mississippi Allstars show at Tips, you can catch frontman Luther Dickinson (also formerly of the Black Crowes) tear it up with Osborne on December 6 as well. In case your musical leanings are one way or the other, Friday night’s set will be a bit more rock-focused while Saturday night’s show will be soul-infused with a special appearance by the “Queen of Gospel-Soul” herself, Ms. Irma Thomas.

If waiting a week and half is too long before checking out some of Osborne’s slick shreds, be sure to tune in or set your DVR to AXS TV (the cable TV network that now broadcasts the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival live) on Sunday, December 1 at 6:20 p.m. CT (just before the season premiere of the final season of HBO’s Tremé airs) for the re-broadcast of his live performance at Red Rocks, CO with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

Anders Osborne’s “Rock My NOLA Soul” Christmas Spectacular is Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7 at Tipitina’s (501 Napoleon Ave). Doors each night are 9 p.m. with showtime at 10 p.m., and tickets are $25 advance or $30 at the door. And if you want to experience both sets, two-night passes are also available for a discounted $40 via Tipitina’s as well.

Since we’re feeling warm and fuzzy in the holiday spirit and all, OffBeat is giving away [2] pairs of tickets to each night! Simply fill out the online form below to enter the contest. Winners will be notified via email with ticket claim instructions by Thursday, December 5. Good Luck!
