Southern rock and jam band fans will be in for a treat when the Wanee Festival returns to Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL on April 14-16.
Widespread Panic, Gregg Allman and Gov’t Mule are set to headline the event, which hosted the Allman Brothers Band for many years until the legendary group called it quits in 2014.
Other top-billed acts include Les Brers (a supergroup with Butch Trucks, Jaimoe, Oteil Burbridge, Marc Quinones, Jack Pearson, Pate Bergeron, Bruce Katz and Lamar Wiiliams Jr.), Warren Haynes & The Ashes and Dust Band, Billy & The Kids (featuring the Grateful Dead’s Bill Kreutzmann), Umphrey’s McGee, Hot Tuna Electric with Steve Kimock, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers and Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band.
Both Widespread Panic and Umphrey’s McGee will perform at the festival on Friday and Saturday night.
A number of bands with New Orleans ties will also take the stage at Wanee, including North Mississippi Allstars & Anders Osborne (aka NMO), Dumpstaphunk’s Earth War & Power, Soulive, Nigel Hall and the Devon Allman Band. There is currently no word on why Dumpstaphunk are billed the way they are, but it is likely that their set will be a tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire, War and Tower of Power.
Tickets for the Wanee Festival will go on sale this Monday, December 14 at 10am ET.
