The New Orleans Arts District Association has canceled the White Linen Night block party on August 7 along Julia Street at the urging of the city and in light of the surge in COVID-19 cases.
“We will continue to monitor the case numbers and hope to reschedule for some time in October,” said Leslie Claire Spillman, president of the New Orleans, Arts District Association, in a press release.
The galleries of the district will be open for our regular First Saturday openings from 6- 9 p.m., but individual gallery hours may vary. Patrons who wish to attend the openings should come prepared for controlled capacity in the galleries and masks required for entry.
The parallel After Dark after-party event at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) for White Linen Night is also postponed. The CAC will also proceed with the regular First Saturday gallery opening from 6-9 p.m.
“While we hoped to present this summer event that so many look forward to, the safety of our galleries and their staff, the vendors for the event, and the people of New Orleans is of paramount importance,” said Spillman. “We look forward to being able to present programming of this nature again soon.”
Announcements regarding future dates and times for the event will be made available at artsdistrictneworleans.com and related social media channels.
