The inaugural West Bank Hispanic Heritage Festival promises to deliver a day filled with vibrant music, delectable food, and cultural celebrations as it takes place on October 12, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the University of Holy Cross (UHC) campus in Algiers. Organizers have announced that more than 30 entertainment, food, craft and health vendors will participate in this free, family-friendly event.
This festival, which celebrates the richness and diversity of Hispanic heritage, will feature an array of live performances, activities for all ages, and a community health event, making it a day for everyone to enjoy. Attendees will experience the heart of Hispanic culture through music, food, art and education, all within an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.
“Our mission is to bring together people from all backgrounds throughout the city,” said Stephanie Davi McNeely, Chair of the West Bank Hispanic Heritage Festival and the First Lady of the University of Holy Cross. “The festival highlights the diversity of our Hispanic culture through music, food, art and education in a fun, family-friendly and free environment, right in the heart of the UHC campus.”
The festival’s entertainment lineup promises to keep the energy high throughout the day. On the Redmann Law Stage, festival-goers can enjoy performances by:
- La Tran-K Band – A lively group bringing energetic tunes to keep the crowd moving.
- Grupo Sensación – A mix of traditional and contemporary Latin sounds sure to get attendees dancing.
- Fermin Ceballos – A captivating mix of modern and traditional Hispanic music.
- Mariachi Jalisco – Classic mariachi music that celebrates the core of Hispanic musical heritage.
- Ballet Folklórico Vive Mi Tierra – Traditional Mexican folk dance performances showcasing vibrant costumes and stories told through movement.
- Dile Que NOLA – A local favorite that blends Latin fusion sounds.
- ZUMBA with Sonia G Fitness – An energizing Zumba session to get everyone on their feet.
Attendees will have the chance to taste a wide array of authentic Hispanic and local dishes. Food vendors and food trucks will offer something for everyone, with offerings including:
- Food Vendors: Anita’s Quesabirrias, Casita Jasmyn, Chick Fil A, Coop’s Burgers, El Macho Grill, Curramba La Bella Colombian Food, Hokena’s Cuisine, La Chilanga, and many more.
- Food Trucks: MoFries, Kona Ice of the Crescent City, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee of Jefferson, Wolf’s Burger Truck, and ZoraChristina Catering & Food Truck.
In addition to food and music, a diverse selection of vendors will offer unique crafts, accessories, skincare products and more. Notable participants include Accesorios Yolis, Colette, HairbyMaisa and Nolahoney Closet. The festival will also feature a community health event, offering wellness resources and information to attendees. The Beignet Fest Sensory Activation Vehicle will provide a quiet, safe space for those who need a break from the festivities.
