On Thursday, September 19, Keiko Komaki will bring the Booker Sessions to the Maple Leaf Bar at 6 p.m. Known for her innovative fusion of jazz with contemporary influences, Komaki’s performance is a can’t-miss event for jazz enthusiasts. Her ability to blend intricate melodies with heartfelt improvisation has earned her critical acclaim and a loyal following. Tickets are available for only $10. Later that evening, Chickie Wah Wah will host a special tribute to the legendary Jimmy Buffett starting at 8:30 p.m. This tribute event will feature a stellar lineup of special guests, including Dick Deluxe, Sam Price, Andy J. Forest, Will McMains, Alex Pianovich and more. Together, they will honor Buffett’s iconic music with unique interpretations and heartfelt renditions. On Saturday, September 21, Louis Armstrong Park will host the L.O.C.A.L.S’ Fest from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. This festival is a celebration of local talent and cultural diversity, featuring a lineup of artists including The Rumble, known for their energetic performances; Tonya Boyd-Cannon, whose powerful vocals and soulful delivery captivate audiences; Raw Revolution, blending funk and rock in their high-octane shows; and the One Shot Brass Band. Other notable acts include T-Ray The Violinist, whose virtuosity brings a classical touch to contemporary music; Higher Heights, Sporty’s Brass Band, and 504 Icy Grl, adding a fresh edge to the festival’s offerings. Hispanic HeritageThe French Market will come alive on September 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the Hispanic Heritage Celebration at the New Orleans French Market. This free event will highlight the rich cultural heritage of Hispanic and Latinx communities through a variety of activities, performances and culinary delights. 2019 Westbank Heritage Festival

The Westbank Heritage Food & Music Festival will take over the Alario Center in Westwego on September 21-22 from noon to 9 p.m. This two-day festival features performances by Tamar Braxton, whose powerful voice and charismatic stage presence have made her a pop and R&B sensation; Con Funk Shun, a legendary band known for their infectious funk grooves; and Boosie, a rapper with a deep connection to Louisiana’s music scene. The festival also includes local favorites like Keith Frank, known for his high-energy zydeco performances, and T-Ray the Violinist. On September 22, the third annual Gospel Explosion will take place from noon to 4 p.m. The festival will also feature over 25 vendors offering food, clothing and crafts, as well as a Kids Zone and interactive photo booths. On September 21, from 3 p.m to 8 p.m, Music Box Village in the Bywater neighborhood will host the second annual Feel the Rhythm of The Drums Festival. This event, curated by Orlando Primo, founder of Majek Fingers International School of Drumming, celebrates the diverse drumming traditions of the African diaspora. The festival will feature performances and interactive workshops that allow attendees to engage with various folkloric drum and dance styles. The event aims to educate and inspire through cross-cultural exchange, offering an immersive experience in rhythm and dance. The all-ages event will also include arts and crafts vendors.
