Salvatore Geloso has been a vibrant presence in the streets of New Orleans for over a decade. Currently leading an operation called the Blackhawk Revelators, Sal has led several bands over the years and contributed to various projects, though he never quite stopped performing in the streets.
It doesn’t get any more New Orleans than this. Here he plays a Sweet Emma Barrett classic by the Mississippi river on the three-strings banjo after breaking one, while the steamboat and streetcar go by. In part II of this episode, he tackles O.V. Wright’s soulful ode to the Mississippi, “Everybody Knows.”
