One of New Orleans’ most beloved music veterans will turn 74 years young this month, and once again, the entire city is invited to Walter “Wolfman” Washington’s birthday celebrations.
The festivities kick off on Wednesday, December 13 at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen St.), where Washington and The Roadmasters will perform a 10 p.m. show for $5 at the door. On Thursday, December 14 they will perform at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art (925 Camp St.) at 6 p.m, ticket prices for which vary. That’s followed by a must-see solo performance on Friday, December 14 as he sits in on Anders Osborne’s 6th Annual Holiday Spectacular at Tipitina’s (501 Napoleon Ave.), which also features Ivan Neville and Rickie Lee Jones (tickets are available here for $32). The days-long birthday party culminates on Saturday, December 16 at the Maple Leaf Bar (8316 Oak St.) for Walter’s Annual Birthday Celebration featuring The Roadmasters and, of course, the birthday boy himself. Tickets for that are only $10 and RSVP is encouraged.
Happy birthday, Wolf!
