The Voice of the Wetlands Festival will return to Houma, LA on October 13-15 for another weekend of free fun for an important cause.
The 14th edition of the annual gathering will feature performances by Tab Benoit, The Trio (George Porter Jr., Johnny Vidacovich, Brian Stoltz), Big Chief Monk Boudreaux & the Golden Eagles, Honey Island Swamp Band, Louisiana’s Leroux feat. Jimmy Hall & Tab Benoit, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, John “Papa” Gros, Dash Rip Rock and many more. Additionally, the annual Friday Night Guitar Fight will bring Benoit, Josh Garret, Bolin Lake and Ed Willis to the stage on October 13.
For the third year in a row, Voice of the Wetlands Festival will take place at the Ponderosa, a cattle-farm-turned-festival-venue at 5403 West Park Ave. As usual, it will be free and open to the public.
Founded in 2004 by Cajun blues guitar master Tab Benoit, the Voice of the Wetlands Festival seeks to draw attention to Louisiana’s disappearing wetlands and the cultures that depend on them (we published a feature on Benoit’s important work in 2015). The event was named the Best Festival Outside of New Orleans at the 2016 Best of the Beat Awards.
