Despite their many years on the festival circuit, the strangest performance of The Soul Rebels career may have taken place in their own hometown. Yes, their collaboration with Marilyn Manson was pretty darn interesting, but it wasn’t as weird as their appearance during last night’s WWE SmackDown at the Smoothie King Center.
The New Orleans brass mainstays made their entrance alongside professional wrestling trio The New Day, who were gearing up for the night’s opening match. I’m not particularly well versed in the traditions associated with professional wrestling, so I don’t know if the whole spectacle was supposed to be intimidating, festive or festively intimidating. Regardless, I’m happy to report that The New Day won their match. Unicorn and brass horns are both woefully underutilized in professional wrestling, and any crew willing to incorporate them into their schtick has my blessing.
There’s only one way to make an entrance worthy of New Orleans, and #TheNewDay found it courtesy of @SoulRebelsNOLA! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/SIXX6QmDRj
