Rap icon Prodigy passed away earlier today due to complications related to his sickle-cell anemia. He was 42.

Prodigy was best known as one half of famed New York City hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, who earned acclaim for classic East Coast hip-hop record’s like 1995’s The Infamous and 1996’s Hell on Earth. In recent years, the rapper—whose given name was Albert Johnson—was known to collaborate with New Orleans brass mainstays The Soul Rebels, occasionally joining them on stage during their concerts in New York City. In honor of Prodigy, here’s a video of The Soul Rebels teaming up with him at the Brooklyn Bowl in 2014 for a rendition of “Quiet Storm” from Mobb Deep’s 1999 album Murda Muzik.
