While Paul Simon was making his return to Jazz Fest’s Acura Stage, jam-rockers My Morning Jacket were holding things down at the Gentilly Stage on the other side of the Fair Grounds. The band worked through a number of songs from their latest album The Waterfall, as well as fan favorites like “Mahgeetah,” “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 2” and “Off the Record.”
However, the show’s most exciting moment came at the end, when the Preservation Hall Jazz Band join the group for a tribute to Prince. The iconic New Orleans outfit helped with “Sign ‘o’ the Times” and “Purple Rain” before wrapping up the show with MMJ’s go-to closer “One Big Holiday.”
