On February 22, the Louisiana Humanities Center hosted the first in a series of discussions about culture and commerce called the “People Say Project”. This first event featured singer/songwriter/guitarist Alex McMurray and veteran hip-hop MC Truth Universal. This is the whole video of their talk with moderator Brian Boyles (LHC Program Director and OffBeat contributor) about the role of money in music.
The next People Say Project conversation focuses on visual art instead of music, and takes place this coming Tuesday, March 22. It features t-shirt designer Ayo Scott of NOYO Designs and Vic & Nat’ly creator/artist/writer/former OffBeat editor Bunny Matthews. The discussion begins at 6 p.m. at the Louisiana Humanities Center (938 Lafayette St.), preceded by a reception featuring free po-boys from Charlie’s Seafood and Leidenheimer Bakery and beer courtesy of Abita.
