A few New ORleans students got a Jazz Fest treat when Dave Matthews and Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews dropped by their classroom at McDonogh City Park Academy on Friday. The school, which is located a couple of blocks from the Fair Grounds Race Course, brought the artists in to take a look at its arts-integrated lessons plans and perform for one of its classes. The pair led the students through a rendition of the Dave Matthews Band hit “Everyday” that included a parting trombone solo from Andrews, and it looks like many of the kids were singing along.
As previously reported, Dave Matthews and his DMB bandmate Tim Reynolds headlined the Acura Stage on Friday with an acoustic set, while Andrews once again closed out the Acura Stage on Jazz Fest’s final day.
