The Bayou Rum Blues Jam Competition at Rock ‘n’ Bowl brought the best unsigned blues artists from across Louisiana to Rock ‘n’ Bowl every Tuesday in October to compete for a free recording session and a paid show at Rock ‘n’ Bowl.
Organized by Credo Blues Society frontman Chuck Credo IV, the Blues Jam was designed to showcase the talent of up and coming musicians.
The last time Rock ‘n’ Bowl held a similar competition was more than 20 years ago in 1992, and the finalists then included Anders Osborne, Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes, Tab Benoit, and a host of other current blues stars.
I had the honor of joining a rotating panel of judges for the event, including Alex McMurray, Mark Stone, Reid Wick, Robin Barnes, and Gwen Voorhies.
