Aaron Neville will celebrate his 75th birthday with Dr. John, George Porter Jr. and Dumpstaphunk at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York City this evening, but last night he dropped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform a song from his new album Apache.
Neville was backed by Lettuce/Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno, who co-produced and wrote much of the Apache, for a rendition of the record’s lead single, “Be Your Man.” The R&B icon was also joined by fellow New Orleanian John Batiste and his band Stay Human, who serve as the house band for Colbert, while his brother Charles Neville contributed his sax to the number as well.
You can watch a video of the performance below, and while you’re at make sure to check out some clips of Stephen Colbert and Jon Batiste’s trips to Frenchmen Street and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
