Vans Warped Tour will return to the New Orleans area for the second year in a row on Wednesday, June 28. In a change up from last year, the festival will take place at The Shrine on Airline in Metairie (the home of the New Orleans Baby Cakes) instead of at Mardi Gras World along the Mississippi River.
This year’s Louisiana edition of Warped Tour will feature a variety of alternative, punk and metal acts like Hawthorne Heights, GWAR, American Authors, CKY, Anti-Flag, Hatebreed, The Adolescents, Boston Manor, The Acacia Strain and much more. The bands will perform on seven different stages throughout the festival grounds.
Originally launched as a gathering for punk and alternative rock fans in 1995, the Vans Warped Tour has since diversified its offerings and grown into the largest touring music festival in North America. Acts like Sum 41, Ballyhoo!, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Pepper and Yellowcard performed at Mardi Gras World last summer when the event came to New Orleans for the first time since 2001.
“As we enter our 23rd year on the road, continuing our mission of music, philanthropy and education is what I look forward to most,” says founder Kevin Lyman. “The Vans Warped Tour is not for all, but every summer I look forward to seeing those fans who do chose to come and engage and be a positive force in our community.”
