University of New Orleans and its Jazz Studies program presents the Spring 2020 Jazz at the Sandbar series beginning March 11. Jazz at the Sandbar is a performance series where UNO jazz students, faculty, and visiting guests perform an evening jazz concert after days of workshopping with visiting jazz musicians. The performances showcase jazz studies students talent as well as the skills they honed through the guidance of the week’s visiting artist.
Jazz at the Sandbar Spring 2020 will take place on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm throughout March and April, each week featuring a different respected jazz musician. The performances are held at The Cove, located on Founders Road, 2000 Lakeshore Dr. Admission is free with a UNO ID, with a $10 suggested donation from the general public. The Spring 2020 series lineup is as follows:

Jazz at the Sandbar was created in 1990 by Ellis Marsalis, renowned jazz pianist and first Chairman of the Jazz Studies Program at UNO. The series gives UNO jazz studies students the opportunity to learn from and perform with esteemed professional jazz musicians in front of an audience. Students are encouraged to exercise their improvisational skills under the unparalleled guidance of jazz professionals.
