Two grant opportunities aimed at supporting community engagement and innovative arts projects launched this week.
Community Arts Grants: More Joy
The Community Arts Grants (CAG), funded by the City of New Orleans and administered by Arts New Orleans, has opened applications for the “More Joy” category. This grant is designed to fund groups that engage their communities through activities rooted in or paying homage to the street parading culture of New Orleans, particularly those typically conducted by Black Masking Indians and Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs.
To assist applicants, a virtual grant application workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The workshop will cover grant eligibility requirements, the application process, and tips for submitting a competitive application. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions. Attendance is recommended for first-time applicants, and a recording of the workshop will be available on Arts New Orleans’ YouTube page for those unable to attend. The application deadline for the More Joy grant is June 18.

A virtual grant application workshop for the Louisiana Project Grant is set for Friday, May 24, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Similar to the More Joy workshop, this session will outline the grant eligibility requirements, application process, and provide tips for a strong application. Participants will have the chance to ask questions, and attendance is suggested for first-time applicants. A recording will be posted on the Arts New Orleans YouTube page for those who cannot attend the live session. The deadline to apply for the Louisiana Project Grant is July 1.
