Tulane to host Tipping Point benefit concert with Mavis Staples

Returning for its 3rd year, the Tipping Point all-star benefit concert will take place on Nov. 1, when Tulane University and UpperWest Music Group will bring the show to The Fillmore to raise money for the school. The show’s lineup features incredible talent, including singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Robinson, rock band Larkin Poe, singer-songwriter Anders Osborne, multi-instrumentalist and singer Jimmy Vivino, singer-songwriter Amy Helm and London Souls guitarist Tash Neal. The famous gospel singer Mavis Staples will headline the event.

The Tipping Point is one of the University’s main events during homecoming and family weekend. It is the latest event created by UpperWest Music Group, a music event company which specializes in creating concerts for corporations, universities and non-profits. The organization was co-founded by Greg Williamson and Nicole Rechter.

“Nicole and I believe that music and live entertainment, when embraced and presented the right way, can deliver big, measurable results, especially over the long term, for brands, charities, universities and corporations,” said Williamson. “The Tipping Point, now in its 3rd year and bigger than ever before, is part of our overall mission to do good and bring people together through live music. In our opinion, there is no other form of media that is more powerful than a live concert!”

Comedian and actor Jeff Garlin will host the show. Guitarist, songwriter and two-time Grammy winner Eric Krasno will act as the event’s musical director. Ivan Neville, Cyril Neville, George Porter Jr., Tony Hall, Raymond Webber and Mark Mullins & The Levee Horns will perform as the event’s house band.

The Fillmore is located at 6 Canal St. Tickets for the event start at $152. The event starts at 8 p.m. For more information about purchasing tickets, visit Live Nation’s website, here.
