On Monday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., L.B. Landry High School will be the site of an extraordinary musical event as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, in partnership with NOLA Public Schools, presents the “Trumpet Summit: A Summer Instrument Series for NOLA Kids.”
This unique event offers young trumpeters a valuable opportunity to enhance their technique and skills under the expert guidance of renowned musicians and educators. The lineup of distinguished instructors includes members of Trumpet Mafia, celebrated saxophonist Derek Douget, and Asia Muhaimin, the Director of Fine Arts for NOLA Public Schools. Each brings a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering musical talent.
Trumpet players of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned performers, are invited to participate in this inclusive and enriching experience. The Trumpet Summit is designed to support the growth and development of every participant, regardless of their current proficiency level. Whether just starting out or looking to refine advanced techniques, attendees will benefit from personalized instruction and the camaraderie of fellow young musicians.
The event will be hosted by Maestro Wilbert Rawlins, the Director of Fine Arts for Algiers Charter Schools, whose dedication to music education has inspired countless young artists in the community.
