The Trombone Shorty Foundation and the GiaMaione Prima Foundation in partnership with Warren Easton Charter High School are presenting the annual Tunes for Toys Toy Drive and Concert, at Warren Easton High School’s Legacy Field on Friday, December 15. Participants will experience a night of festive live music from the young Shorty Academy students, as well as performances by GRAMMY nominated artists, The Rumble ft. Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr., Raj Smoove, Warren Easton High School students and an appearance by local dance troupe Le Bon Ton Babydolls. Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews will also be performing. Admission is free and open to the public, in exchange for a new toy.
“Tunes for Toys has become such a fun tradition,” says Foundation founder Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews. “This event warms my heart and I’m excited to see everyone, especially as Warren Easton celebrates their 110th year!” Gates open at 6pm, with live music starting at 6pm with Raj Smoove. Food trucks and vendors will be on site with refreshments available for purchase. The event will be hosted by Tonya Boyd-Cannon.
The evening is made possible by a presenting sponsorship from the Gia Maione Prima Foundation. “We are proud to partner with the Trombone Shorty Foundation in continuing to support Tunes for Toys, this very special annual toy drive and holiday music concert,” states Anthony J. Sylvester, Gia Maione Prima Foundation Trustee.
The toys will be distributed on Saturday, December 16 at Warren Easton High School at an event called Toys from Troy. There will be refreshments and photos with Santa from 1-3 p.m.. This event is also free and open to the public and any child who attends will receive a free toy.
