Heads up NOLA music fans… Tonight, supafunkrock phenom Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews will join the oh-so-fabulous Prince and the New Power Generation on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The show will air at midnight (EST) / 11:00 p.m. (CST) on ABC. That’s WGNO channel 26 for those in the metro-New Orleans area. You can also stream Jimmy Kimmel Live! online.
This Kimmel stop doesn’t mark Shorty’s first on the show — in 2010, he and Orleans Avenue were its featured musical guests — nor does it mark his last, as Andrews is prepared to sit in alongside saxman supreme Maceo Parker with sassy singer-songwriter Andy Allo in December. Shorty and Maceo previoulsy recorded with Allo on her long-delayed, forthcoming Prince-produced project Superconductor. For a taste, listen to “People Pleaser” below:

Not coincidentally, this isn’t the first time Prince has tapped one of NOLA’s next generation. Trumpeter Christian Scott added his signature whisper tones to “Somewhere Here on Earth” on Prince’s 2007 release, Planet Earth. Check it out:

As for Trombone Shorty, he’s pretty jazzed about tonight’s show. But he’s even more excited about playing the House of Blues on Wednesday — his first hometown show in five months.
Just realized I haven’t played in my hometown in 5 months. Couldn’t be more excited to return this week.— Trombone Shorty (@Tromboneshorty) October 22, 2012
