Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will bring their third annual Treme Threauxdown to the Saenger Theatre during Jazz Fest season.
The popular funk rock band will perform at the venue following the second day of the festival on Saturday, April 29. Dumpstaphunk will also take the stage during the show, along with a number of other TBA special guests.
Named for the historic New Orleans neighborhood that Trombone Shorty calls home, the Treme Threauxdown will once again find the musician and his band joined by a variety of collaborators. Last year’s edition of the concert featured appearances by Cyril Neville, Leo Nocentelli, George Porter Jr., Marc Broussard, CeeLo Green and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
“Coming from Treme, for me and my band to be able to take the Saenger stage each year in April is a real special thing,” Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews. “Every year we try to make the show bigger and better. We have it circled on the calendar and invite our favorite performers from around the world to play with us on our home stage. And that’s how we look at it–a big homecoming, especially this year. This is the show that kicks off our homecoming at Festival time.”
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue been playing to some big rooms lately as the opening act for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Last week’s stop in New Orleans saw Andrews join the rock icons on stage for a spectacular finale that also included the Rebirth Brass Band, George Porter Jr. and Ivan Neville.
Tickets for the third annual Treme Threauxdown will go on sale Friday, January 20 at 10am via Ticketmaster and the Saenger Theatre box office.
