Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue have revealed that their Blue Note Records debut, Parking Lot Symphony, will be released pm Friday, April 28—the first day of Jazz Fest. The 12-track effort was produced by Chris Seefried (Fitz and the Tantrums, Andra Day) and features 10 new original songs, along with renditions of Allen Toussaint’s “Here Comes The Girls” and The Meters’ “It Ain’t No Use.”
In anticipation of the forthcoming release, Shorty and co. have also put out their Toussaint cover as the album’s first single. You can give it a listen below.
Additionally, the band has announced a series of summer tour dates, including a co-headlining West Coast run with St. Paul & The Broken Bones. Among the news dates is an album release party at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, which is slated to take place a few days before the band returns to New Orleans for their Treme Threauxdown at the Saenger Theatre.
As previously reported, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will close out the Acura Stage once again at this year’s Jazz Fest. It’s an honor that has traditionally been reserved for New Orleans’ most cherished artists, from Professor Longhair to the Neville Brothers.
