In January, OffBeat spoke with Trombone Shorty about this year’s Treme Threauxdown, the annual Jazz Fest lagniappe. At the time, full details of the lineup had yet to be announced but the names of the megawatt talent performing at the Saenger Theatre on Saturday, April 28 have now been shared. Irma Thomas, Jon Cleary, Kermit Ruffins, The Soul Rebels and special guest Big Freedia will all be there!
Treme Threauxdown 2018, the fourth installment of the yearly concert (will of course) also feature Shorty and his band. Tickets for the event range from $49.50 to $150 and are available here.
April 28 is the first Saturday of Jazz Fest, but Shorty will be back for its second weekend. He and Orleans Avenue will headline the Acura stage on Sunday, May 6 from 5:45-7 p.m., but not before the sixth annual Shorty Fest goes down on Thursday, May 3. There, The Soul Rebels will once again share the stage, as will Tank and the Bangas, Water Seed, New Breed Brass Band, Darcy Malone & The Tangle and more.
