On August 28, the House of Blues will host Treme’s concert preview for its soon-to-be-released soundtrack album.
Irma Thomas, John Boutte, Kermit Ruffins and eight other musicians and bands that were featured on the show will play at “A Night of Treme to Benefit the Make it Right Foundation.” Rebirth Brass Band and the brightly colored Guardians of the Flame Mardi Gras Indians will also take the stage, to give the night an even more festive flavor. Actors from the show will make appearances as well. The concert will benefit Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation, the ambitious organization that aims to build 150 environmentally friendly, well-designed houses in the Ninth Ward, including a floating house and a duplex with an adjustable floor plan.
Given the vast swathe of music that the series used, it’s nearly impossible to guess exactly what will and won’t make it onto the final tracklist of the soundtrack. Only two songs have been confirmed: Steve Earle’s haunting “This City,” which concluded the final episode, and “Shame, Shame, Shame,” an alternate version of the Davis McAlary song featured on episode five. Music supervisor Blake Leyh says the full-length version of “Shame, Shame Shame” will include an “incendiary and hilarious” verse that was not in the episode. John Boutte’s “Treme Song” will likely be on the album, considering it’s the theme song, but has yet to be confirmed. Until more is revealed, fans can get their Treme music fix live at the House of Blues.
Doors are at 8 p.m. and tickets are $25 for general admission, or $65 for VIP, which includes a private after-show party. The full line-up includes Lloyd Price, John Boutte, Jon Cleary, Irma Thomas, Coco Robicheaux, Kermit Ruffins, Paul Sanchez, Doreen Ketchens, James Andrews, Rebirth Brass Band and the Guardians of the Flame Mardi Gras Indians.
