Momentum hasn’t faltered for the highly anticipated HBO series, Treme.
With the premier only days away, Reuters claims that the show will “put New Orleans back on map”.
CBC News credits the show for its unusual spontaneity as it lacks a structured plot line or narrative arc. However, just like the city, Treme is so far seen as romantically broken with “fairy-tale charm”.
The Los Angeles Times featured the show’s preparations. At an HBO press lunch, executive producers David Simon and Eric Overmyer showed their deep interest and care for New Orleans, wanting to portray the truth of the situation and concern of the locals through the series. Following, reporter Tina Dirmann interviewed cast member John Goodman. Goodman, who plays Creighton Bernette, expressed his excitement and optimism for the show talking about the city’s high Mardi Gras 2010 turnout and the Super Bowl victory. However, he did touch on Hurricane Katrina: “It’s a part of our history. A painful part.”
Nola.com promoted the celebrity auction event, “My Darlin’ New Orleans,” where the Treme cast and crew met fans and raised money for the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic.
Along with a great cast, there are also many musical artists who will being making appearances this season. TV By Numbers reports musicians such as Elvis Costello, Galactic, Allen Toussaint, and Kermit Ruffins will be on early episodes.
Also giving attention to the music of the series, Entertainment Weekly has claimed that Treme “blends bluntness with the nuances of gorgeous music.”
At Salon.com, reviews the show, writing, “Treme epitomizes the sort of great storytelling we all thirst for on TV but rarely find.”
