Hopes for the impact of the upcoming HBO series Treme have been high since it was announced, but its making its presence felt right away. The series debuts in early April, but tickets are on sale now for “My Darlin’ New Orleans,” a gala and auction thrown by Treme that will take place March 27 at Generations Hall. The event benefits the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic, which has been working to find new sources of funding since a long-term grant is running out.
Among the auction items are roles on the show, autographed memorabilia including guitars signed by Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Springsteen, and partially flood-damaged photos by OffBeat contributor Jef Jaisun that have been used on the show. The evening also includes music by Lionel Ferbos and John Boutte, and food by Susan Spicer of Bayona, Aaron Burgau of Patois, and JoAnn Clevinger of the Upperline. Many of the show’s cast members will be on hand including Khandi Alexander, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo, Lucia Micarelli, Clarke Peters, Wendell Pierce and Steve Zahn.
Tickets are $100 per person and are available now from the Musicians’ Clinic.
