The Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival will bring some of New Orleans’ best brass bands and delicious gumbo to Louis Armstrong Park this weekend. Slated for Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, the free, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation-produced event will feature performances by the Rebirth, Hot 8, Pinettes and Treme brass bands, just to name a few.
Others groups on the lineup include Shamarr Allen & DJ Chicken, Eureke Brass Band, Leroy Jones’ Original Hurricane Brass Band, Fairview Baptist Church Brass Band, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Brass Band, Lagniappe Brass Band, Magnetic Ear and mor
The festival will also feature 12 food vendors, each with their own unique style of gumbo. Variations include gumbo z’herbes, shrimp and oyster, chicken and andouille, creole file, dark roux and vegan, among others.
Additionally, the event will merge its Art Market and Kids Area to create a space with interactive and creative workshops, as well as activities for children. The market will feature dozens of local artists that will showcase their handmade fine art and home furnishings.
