Travis Scott Drops His Highly Anticipated “Utopia,” Featuring New Orleans Own Rob49

Travis Scott, the acclaimed rapper and producer who you may have seen replacing Childish Gambino at Voodoo Festival in 2018, released his long-awaited fourth studio album, Utopia, on Friday. The album features a collaboration with New Orleans rising star and OffBeat Magazine’s July 2023 cover artist, Rob49, as well as Atlanta’s 21 Savage on the single “Topia Twins,” which is being regarded by many as one of the standout tracks on the record.

Utopia is a collection of diverse records showcasing Travis Scott’s iconic style with both melodic beats and hard-hitting lyrics. The collaboration with Rob49, whose verse ends with, “Stuntin’ like my daddy, I’m from the New Orleans projects!” and 21 Savage takes the album in a new direction for Travis, infusing the track with a versatile blend of Rob49’s aggressive Louisiana style and 21 Savage’s relaxed melody.

Rob49, the gifted artist from New Orleans, is no stranger to success. As discussed in our July issue, he kicked off this summer by releasing his 4 God II project, garnering significant attention and acclaim. Notably, he hosted his 2nd annual “Vulture Weekend Experience,” which featured appearances from notable artists such as G Herbo, Nardo Wick, Treety, and more. Adding to his list of accolades, Rob49 received his first BET Awards nomination for “Best Music Video” in June. And to top it all off, he earned a spot on XXL’s Freshman Cover Artists of 2023.

Rob49’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down as he gears up for the deluxe edition release of 4 God II and the launch of his new single “Mama.” The latter has already caught fire on TikTok, gaining support from his fans.

With his unique yet nostalgic New Orleans sound, Rob49 continues captivating fans and fellow artists, solidifying his place as one of the rap game’s top prospects.
