The Trombone Shorty Foundation is teaming up with Whole Foods Market to present Toys from Troy, a toy giveaway with music and more on Monday, December 21 at the Broad Street Whole Foods location.
Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and members of the foundation will be distributing the toys that were collected during their Tune for Toys event held at Tulane earlier this month. Last year, the foundation collected and distributed over 500 toys.
Live music will be provided by the students of the Trombone Shorty Foundation Academy, Main Line, and the New Breed Brass Band with a special guest.
“It really started with the basic idea of giving back to the community during the holidays,” said the foundation’s executive director Bill Taylor. “This gives us the opportunity to collect a lot of toys as well as to reinforce the mission of the Foundation, which is to pass the musical culture onto the next generation.”
The “Winter Wonderland-themed” event will also feature a number of attractions, including ice cream and hot apple cider samples, face painting, a wandering magician, kids crafts and games, photos with “Santa Bear” and more.
The event is free and open to the public. Each child will receive a complimentary toy on a first-come, first-served basis.
