The annual Top Taco event celebrates its sixth year on Thursday, October 26. The Al Copeland Meadow at Lafreniere Park, located at 3000 Downs Boulevard in Metairie, LA, will host this event again as it ushers in the Halloween weekend.
Shane Finkelstein, the event producer, cited the improved facilities at the Al Copeland Meadow as the reason for returning to Lafreniere Park. He stated, “This provides ample space for attendees to enjoy the various tacos and cocktails.”
Over 40 local restaurants and eight barbecue establishments will participate in a friendly competition for trophies across six categories, including Top Traditional Taco, Top Creative Taco and Top Vegetarian Taco. The event includes contests for Top Traditional Margarita and Top Creative Cocktail. In the VIP segment, barbecue teams will vie for the Top BBQ Taco title, with fans and celebrity judges participating in the decision-making process.
Attendees can also enjoy diverse entertainment at this year’s event. Live music will be featured across three stages, including performances by bands like Flow Tribe, Future Cowboys, Otra, and Muevelo. The festivities also include DJs, Lucha Libre (wrestling, Mexico-style), mechanical bull riding, the Casamigos Costume Contest and various lounges.
For those seeking an elevated experience, the Herradura Ultra VIP Experience offers a BBQ competition, a premium open bar, top-shelf tequila tastings, Trixie Minx Burlesque performances, gourmet desserts, and an ultra-lounge under the big top.
Various restaurants have already confirmed their participation, with previous winners like Barracuda, Los Jefes, and last year’s GOAT winner La Tia Taqueria making a return. Newcomers include Galaxie, Demi St. Charles, Taceaux Loceaux, and others.
Top Taco 2023 offers different ticket options, starting at an early-bird price of $70. Choices include $135 VIP, $105 Early Entry/First Tasting and $85 General Admission. Once inside all food, drinks, and entertainment are included.
