Tony Bennett will return to New Orleans on Wednesday, December 7 for a headlining show at the Saenger Theatre.
The 19-time Grammy Award-winning singer has been at it for over six decade, putting out dozens of platinum and albums and solidifying his status as a legend of American music. His latest #1 album was released, 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, was a collaboration with pop star Lady Gaga that featured renditions of jazz standards by composers like George Gershwin and Cole Porter (the album’s surprisingly high sales made Bennett the oldest artists to score a #1 record).
Having just turned 90, it’s a wonder that Bennett is still hitting the road with such persistence. Over the years, he’s been honored by a range of organizations from the Kennedy Center and National Endowment for the Arts to the United Nations.
Despite his deep catalog and countless honors, Bennett shows few signs of slowing down. His most recent release, THE SILVER LINING: The Songs of Jerome Kern, earned him yet another Grammy Award in the Best Traditional Pop Album category earlier this year.
Tickets for Bennett’s show at the Saenger Theatre will go on sale this Friday, September 30 at 10am.
