Tipitina’s will host a celebration of the life of New Orleans Music Exchange owner Jimmy Glickman–who passed away last month–on Saturday, February 20 from 2-6pm.
The event will feature performances by a group comprised of Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr., Tony Hall and Alvin Ford, Walter “Wolfman” Washington & the Roadmasters, John Mooney + Marc Stone, and Mem Shannon and the Membership.
There will also be a second line with the Hot 8 Brass Band, the Pinstripe Brass Band. the Soul Brass Band and a to-be-named high school marching band.
Glickman was a fixture on the New Orleans music scene, and was known for his generosity and his commitment to the music community. His store won 14 Best of the Beat Awards for Best Music Store, along with four additional awards for Best Pro Audio Store. He was also a frequent contributor to the Tipitina’s Foundation’s annual Instruments A Comin’ benefit, and was supportive of many local music non-profits, such as the New Orleans Musicians Clinic.
Jimmy’s brother Michael will be in attendance at the celebration, which will be free and open to the public.
