Tipitina’s and Simple Play will host a tribute to Alanis Morissette and her breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill on Friday, September 30.
The show finds Sweet Crude singer Alexis Marceaux and The Kid Carsons singer/bassist Morgan D. Carson backed by a supergroup of New Orleans indie rock musicians. Last year’s tribute concert packed the house at One Eyed Jack’s, so organizers decided to move the party to Tipitina’s this time around.
Jagged Little Pill turned a then-20-year-old Alanis Morissette into a household name when it was released in July of 1995. The album featured a variety of hits like “You Oughta Know,” “Ironic,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Head Over Feet” and “You Learn,” and went on to become one the best selling LPs of the 1990s. It also picked up five Grammy Awards, including the coveted Album of the Year honors.
Tickets for the show are now on sale for $10. The price will go up to $15 on the day of the show.
