This summer, the Tipitina’s Foundation will present the “Making Business of Your Band” Music Business Development Series aimed at establishing and sustaining viable businesses in the music industry.
The program targets Louisiana residents who currently use music (or media) as a form of income, but have not yet taken steps to establish their business, or are in the early stages of business development.
Workshops and meetings will be offered at Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op locations across Louisiana in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Alexandria, Shreveport, and Monroe.
Participants in the series will examine the various ways working musicians can maximize revenue to develop a sustainable business, including copyright fundamentals, tax credit opportunities, and small business accounting tools.
The programs in each city will be led by Billy O’Connell, who has had over 20 years in the music industry and has worked with huge names such as Warner Brothers Records, MTV, The Ramones, The Replacements, and Talking Heads, to name a few.
In New Orleans, the program will be held at the Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op at 4040 Tulane Avenue at 6 p.m. on June 29, July 13, and July 27.
Participation in the program is free for Co-Op members, $150 for non-members, or $100 for SEBD-certified participants.
